SMG Client Breaking Housing Matters Launches first fundraising effort

Press Release September 17, 2024

A Statement by Breaking Housing Matters founder Peter de Krassel

In America today people without a permanent place to live are now at risk of arrest for sleeping outside in public spaces.

BHM believes this is an intolerable solution to the national housing crisis. We have a better idea and are outraged that the US Supreme Court recently ruled arrest was permissible in overturning a California Appeals Court that found such laws amount to cruel and unusual punishment when shelter space is lacking.

Breaking Housing Matters (BHM), an Arizona 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, believes the solution is affordable shelter by Building Affordable Housing Profitably.

Whether you, or a friend or a loved one, are looking to rent or buy, BHM’s Housing Subsidy Solution (HSS) and Housing Subsidy Fund (HSF) offer a solution. Details are spelled out in the book Custom Maid Housing for New World Disorder, penned by Peter G. de Krassel, the founder of BHM.

The City Aldermen of Rutland, Vermont, have taken a close look at HSS and HSF.  They have asked us to answer several questions about BHM, to help spell out the next steps on the road map in order to get to an ordinance of substance to amend the city charter that then has to be approved by the state legislature.

Rutland City Mayor Mike Doenges, who supports HSS, said: “I welcome the introduction of ambitious initiatives that align with our overarching goal, of adding 1000 new housing units over the next 5 years here in Rutland City. It’s encouraging to witness the attention this initiative has garnered. Their (BHM) commitment to developing innovative funding approaches and fostering collaboration in the housing sector is the type of creative approach that communities everywhere could benefit from.”

If passed, and made part of the state’s charter, the City of Rutland will be the first city to adopt and pilot a solution to America’s housing crisis. A model for the state of Vermont, America, and the world.

Other cities in Vermont whose officials have heard about Custom Maid Housing for New World Disorder, have approached BHM to explain HSS and HSF to them, in order to decide whether to also consider a charter amendment change to allow for the type of housing ordinance proposed by BHM.

“The time is long overdue to look at new innovative and out-of-the-box ideas that actually can get affordable housing built profitably instead of continuing to pursue policies that have repeatedly proven decade after decade that they are unworkable.” said Rutland Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Ed Bove.

BHM is now accepting tax-deductible donations and crowdfunding to cover its administrative, legal, polling, and marketing costs to get BHM’s proposed ordinance adopted by a city in Vermont – or elsewhere — and become a model solution for the housing crisis facing humanity. “This initiative is a powerful economic tool, reallocating household income back into household savings, back into the downtown consumer market, back into ensuring more stable neighborhoods without property owners taking a loss”, said Scott Graves, BHM Vermont Director & Coordinator, overseeing the efforts. “Rutland will lead the country in a non-partisan response to our most pressing issue, the housing challenge facing every American.”
