Things Ain’t What They Used to Be

Feeling let down post election, let yourself up on our account.

Well, it’s over with….. or is it? In Episode #4 ‘Things Ain’t What They Used to Be?’ we explore the results of election 2020 and offer some historical and editorial reference where we can in Scotts on the Rocks fashion.

In Episode #4 ‘Things Ain’t What They Used to Be’ we explore a bit of the let down that has marked the last 72 hours post election day.  I mean really, what does a close race like this say about US?

Our fearless leader President Trump, just minutes before the start of our podcast recording graced SMG with devine inspriation to get us rolling by ranting for 25 minutes… well let’s be real we COULD argue he was inciting his supporters to a redneck election party.  But hey, we don’t want to denigrate the office of the President.

Talk of the electoral college over the last five plus years has our heads reeling like a seventh grade civics student.  So we unpacked just a bit of the rather fluid history of the electoral college since the election of 1800 between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.  Do we do away withe this most unique feature of US political process?  YOU decide.

In our second half we review the local elections for 2nd Worcester MA House of Representatives between Bruce Chester (R-Gardner) and Jon Zlotnik (D-Gardner) and the State Senate race for the Worcester and Middelsex district between Dean Tran (R-Fitchburg) and John Cronin (D-Lunenburg).

We explore the phenomenon of not campaigning and how the bigger picture of our state political landscape influences incumbants.  Is it right?  Both Scotts say no.

Is more democratic process a good thing?  Should we re-elect people so they gain in seniority without a critical look at their current record?  Should we encourage a 21st century Shays rebellion?  We leave the answers up to YOU, our listeners.

Scotts on the Rocks Politica is a political-centric broadcast featuring the two Scotts.  Scott J. Graves is a politically conservative pundit and Scott M. Graves is a liberally minded political junky. Together they prove why you and I have more in common and that we’re better together than torn asunder.

Their weekly podcast will feature a careful examination of a topical political story from a national and then local perspective.

If you appreciate local journalism with a global reach, if you want to cut through the BS and get right to the heart of the matter where it counts for your family our show is right for you.

With that in mind we’re launching an initiative we’re calling M The Media Project. This is a service of SMGraves Associates and over the months and years ahead we’re hoping to experiment with a variety of mediums, financial models and service delivery methods to deliver important news to a regional audience.

It is our hope that we will create successful media services companies, incubated right here in central Massachusetts that have the potential of becoming replicable.

The stakes for our society are too high for us not to take this endeavor on.  There are too many capable journalists across the country willing to take part in new and successful business enterprise dedicated to the smart delivery of local political, social and cultural stories.  The stories that tell us who we are and who we desire to be.
